Scene 1- int. MORGUE

A dead female is atop of a table in a morgue. A DOCTOR approaches her and proceeds to slice a straight line through her chest. He then pulls out a saw/rib cutter and begins sawing the ribs. DOCTOR reaches his hands into her chest and begins pulling out her organs.

Doctor

Liver...

DOCTOR places the liver onto a small set of scales.

DOCTOR

1.6 kilograms.

DOCTOR takes the scalpel again and this time removes the left kidney.

DOCTOR

Left kidney...

DOCTOR places the kidney onto the scales.

DOCTOR

120 grams.

DOCTOR removes the other kidney.

DOCTOR

Right kidney...

DOCTOR places the kidney onto the scales.

DOCTOR

122 grams.

DOCTOR removes the heart.

DOCTOR

Heart...

DOCTOR places the heart onto the scales.

DOCTOR

310 grams.

DOCTOR rummages around in the woman's chest. He pulls out a dictaphone and speaks into it.

DOCTOR

Looks like the stab wound punctured the stomach lining... lots of internal bleeding.

Scene 2- int. MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK

The car park is full of police cars, policemen and an ambulance. There is police tape cutting off a small corner of the car park where the audience can see a white police tent. POLICE OFFICER walks into the tent and kneels down to examine the body. He touches the stab wound with gloves on and looks up at DOCTOR.

POLICE OFFICER

So, do we have any leads as to what happened here yet?

DOCTOR

Cause of death appears obvious... 

(gestures to the stab wound)

but you'll have to wait for me to perform the full autopsy.

POLICE OFFICER nods slowly.

POLICE OFFICER

Has time of death been estimated yet?

DOCTOR

It appears her watch broke upon impact at approximately 4:27pm, so it's likely time of death to be around then, give or take a few minutes.

POLICE OFFICER reaches his gloved hand towards the woman's mouth and touches a playing card lodged in her jaw. 

POLICE OFFICER

Looks like the work of the ____, w

DOCTOR looks up, concerned. POLICE OFFICER moves his hand.

POLICE OFFICER

Let's get her body to the morgue ASAP please people. 

Police officer pulls a bag over the dead body.

scene 3- int. MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK

WOMAN is walking towards a lift whilst talking on her mobile phone, carrying a large collection of carrier bags.

woman

Yes John, I remembered to get that present for Sarah's birthday... Some sort of decorative wine glass? It cost a tenner from that small charity shop we both like... yeah, that's it!

WOMAN chuckles to herself, as she enters the lift and pushes a button to the next floor.

WOMAN

No it doesn't make me a cheapskate that I like to look for bargains. Honestly John I-

The rest of WOMAN's sentence is inaudible as the lift goes down. WOMAN walks out on the next floor laughing and heading towards the ticket machine, continuing to talk into her phone.

WOMAN

How did Tom and Harry's football practise go then?

There's a long pause as her partner (JOHN) replies to WOMAN, and in this time WOMAN grabs a ticket from the machine and heads back to her car.

WOMAN

You bought them some of that fast food rubbish. I told you I had a fruit salad at home!

WOMAN rolls her eyes, then smiles to herself at JOHN's response.

WOMAN

Ah dear I do love you guys, even if you're all going to end up with food poisoning! Anyway, I better be off now, I'll-

WOMAN stops mid sentence as she quickly turns around holding her phone to her chest, with the sudden feeling someone in watching her.

john

(through the phone)

Ok sweet. I love you!

WOMAN doesn't hear this, and holds the phone back up to her ear, visibly anxious.

WOMAN

Yeah, yeah... see you.

WOMAN quickly hangs up and rushes to the boot of her car, hastily shoving the bags in. WOMAN walks to the side door and fumbles with her keys before being approached by a hooded figure.

WOMAN

Can I help you?

WOMAN avoids eye contact with the man, clutching her hand bag close to her chest. The man reaches for WOMAN's bag but WOMAN tries to run. The man grabs her before she can go anywhere, and one plunges a knife into her chest. WOMAN's bag falls onto the floor, causing the contents to spill out- a photo of WOMAN and her family can be seen. The man bends down and places down a playing card.

SCENE 4- INT. MORGUE

DOCTOR puts the equipment away before removing his gloves and lab coat. DOCTOR walks towards the door and grabs his bag. He then puts his coat on, and on the table next to the door the audience's attention is drawn to a pack of open half empty playing cards. DOCTOR picks these up and puts them in his inside pocket, before leaving the room.
